The 30-Year Veteran's Case Against Your Current Warranty Model

The old warranty model of chasing down vendor-specific equipment agreements while your portfolio’s uptime slips is broken. That’s why Performance Guarantees offer the best contract structure to truly align your O&M success with your financial goals, protecting your asset value where it matters most: system output and consistent cash flow.

In this 18-page guide, you’ll learn how performance guarantees:

Eliminate "Resource Risk" (The Weather Hedge): Predictable revenue regardless of meteorological "bad luck."

Go Beyond the Component Safety Net: Shift from "is it broken?" to "is it profitable?"

Close the Modeling vs. Reality Gap: Early detection of model drift to protect long-term asset value.

Meet the Author Ben Compton from Omnidian

About the Author: Ben Compton

Before you underwrite a long-term performance guarantee, you want the read from someone who's spent three decades keeping renewable investments profitable, not a spreadsheet model. That's Ben Compton, Omnidian's VP of Key Accounts, who’s worked solar reliability from its early field days through today's institutional portfolios.

In 1992, traveling through Ladakh in the Himalayas, he watched local communities run on solar ovens and passive heating walls, decades before clean tech reached global capital markets. He decided then to build a career around the energy transition, and he's spent the thirty years since on the solar coaster, watching renewables go from boutique alternatives to the cheapest power on the planet.

His focus never moved. Operate commercial assets to the highest technical standard, and the financial value follows for the investors backing them. Today Ben leads Omnidian's commercial sales team, working with developers, IPPs, and institutional asset owners to de-risk their portfolios. He aligns our performance guarantees and technical asset management with each client's long-term IRR targets, so the operational work stays tied to the returns that actually matter to them and their clean energy investments.
